These are night pictures – photographs taken in and around Michigan on a winter’s night. Starting at dusk and progressing into the night, until it is almost too dark to see. The images were made from the window of a moving car, hence the apparent motion and blur in the landscape. The dancing lights sometimes reflect on the inside of the car window at random. It was winter and cold and nice to be looking at the snowy world from inside a warm car. The area where the photographs were taken is quite rural, so buildings, gas stations and signs pop up infrequently. As Night falls there is an increased sense of isolation and privacy, but also mystery and suspense.
